#5 Got my first fountain pen

Hello, this is Terufuku Store Manager.

This is an irregular update for the "I Started a Planner" series.

This time, I'd like to introduce the first fountain pen I ever bought.

Our store had a pop-up booth at the recent gathering of the Niigata Fountain Pen Club.

It was a very educational day, as I learned many things from planner and pen enthusiasts.

There were also workshops for ink play and sealing wax, which our store's mascot (6 years old) also enjoyed.

At one corner of that gathering, there was someone selling fountain pens, and Terufuku store manager was secretly very interested.

With the help of the participants, I ended up buying my first fountain pen.

Here it is.

It's a PILOT Elite fountain pen, a vintage model from 1977, and it's even deadstock new.

As someone who loves old things, I was immediately drawn to it.

It's a fountain pen with a gold nib, also known as a "gold pen," which apparently costs around 10,000 yen to get now.

Although you can't see it in the picture, there's an engraving "H677" on the nib.

Apparently, it means it was manufactured in June 1977 at the Hiratsuka factory.

It's a very valuable item, but I was able to purchase it at the regular price.

The old price tag sticker also has a certain charm, so I plan to keep it on.

I'm going to my favorite stationery store, "PENBOX," right away to buy ink and a converter.

Regarding PENBOX, we might have some good news about a collaboration with our store later on. Please look forward to it.

I'm embarrassed by the low quality, but next time I hope to introduce some planner decoration.
