Hello. I'm the owner of Terufuku Shoten.
This time, I'd like to tell you about the roots and origin of our shop's name.
Our shop opened on May 1st, the first year of Reiwa, which was the beginning of the new imperial era,
but actually, our shop name has a bit of history and roots.
Long ago, the owner's grandparents ran a "Terufuku Shokudo" (diner) in Gunma Prefecture.
It was a diner that satisfied the appetites of local residents for over 40 years, starting in 1970.
They served Gunma's famous yakimanju (grilled buns), "Mammoth-yaki" (a mammoth-shaped taiyaki), homemade udon, yakisoba, and more. The owner also grew up eating these from a young age.
The name "Terufuku" was created by taking one character from the grandfather's name, "Teruo," and one from the grandmother's name, "Fukuko."
Don't you think it's a wonderful name? It also sounds rather auspicious.

When I started this online shop, I wanted it to be a warm and inviting place, just like that diner which satisfied the hunger of local residents and served as a place of relaxation. So, I decided to use this shop name.
Both my grandparents have passed away now, and "Terufuku Shokudo" is no more, but I hope to carry on and preserve at least its name.
The popular "Mammoth-yaki" from the original Terufuku Shokudo, as well as the plates and matchboxes used at the diner, are now available as Terufuku Shoten original illustration goods!
Please take a peek into the nostalgic world of Terufuku Shokudo!
